From School Library Journal
Kindergarten-Grade 2-In a deceptively simple style, this little gem introduces the scientific process. It begins on the verso with the statement, "A scientist is a person who asks questions and tries different ways to answer them." On the recto, a large, clear, colorfully bordered photo shows a first-grade scientist engaged in that investigative step. Hanna is seen wondering about fruits and vegetables. She asks, "Are there this many peas in every pea pod?" Other students are shown noticing details, drawing what they see, taking notes, measuring, designing experiments, etc. The last two pages explain that a scientist keeps trying things over and over and, perhaps best of all, has fun. A final spread repeats the photographs in miniature and sums up what a scientist does. Without chapters, further-reading ideas, or even an index, this title reads like a picture book while conveying a positive message. An accessible volume that will prove especially useful in the classroom.

For the Scientist in Every Child
By A Customer
Children are natural scientists, as author and teacher Barbara Lehn makes clear in this lovely book. She describes the activities of a scientist in clear and concise words, which are accompanied by color photos of the kids in her classrom doing scientific experiments. The children make observations, pose questions, answer them with follow-up experiments, and most of all, have fun. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to encourage a child's sense of wonder and discovery.

Great for introducing scientific techniques
By Alison Russo
I actually saw this book when I was at our Buffalo Museum of Science. The office of the children's director had it and I thought it would be perfect for use with my first graders. It takes one topic at a time that scientists do (observation, experimentation, etc.) and defines it and then has a picture of young students doing it. I really want to use it when introducing each topic to my class. Then I hope to take pictures of my students and make a class book similar to it to show them being scientists. I loved the simplicity of it and the clear explanations of each thing a good scientist does. Very worth it and something I will use every year before beginning science with my little ones.
